ABOUT ME
I have many years of rich and varied experience in music in many areas, beginning with piano lessons at age five; classical, both solo and with large and small ensembles; many pop and rock bands, cover and original; jazz and improvisational; musicals; dance accompaniment; voice and choir accompaniment; tango; arrangement and original music; much studio experience; audio-visual work involving video and film with music, and theater sound; computer-based music; digital recording on computer; live sound mixing and recording; conducting, musical directing, and orchestral/ensemble work, and much more.
Comfortable improvising, soloing, grooving.
Comfortable on acoustic piano and many different keyboards. Current gear includes a Kurzweil PC2X and Access Virus.
Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, and extra-sensorial.
Currently Associate Producer, sound technician and photographer on 'Tango Stories' (working title), a film about tango in Buenos Aires. Directed by Paul Lundahl, noted videographer and co-founder of eMotion Studios, Sausalito CA (http://www.emotionstudios.com/). Filming Buenos Aires, Argentina, editing San Francisco, CA, US; to be completed soon.
Accepted at Rotterdam Conservatorium as tango pianist.

MA - Piano Performance and Literature, Mills College, 1996, Dean's List
Began classical piano studies at age 5. Regular performance and study of classical piano music.
Teen years and high school: jazz band, choral accompaniment, theatre; years of experience in rock bands and live music performance.
Mills College and San Francisco State University classical piano studies included many performances:
• classical solo, orchestral, and chamber music, from all periods
• musicals such as Candide
• vocal accompaniment and coaching
• jazz of every description
• bizarre experimental, improvisation and avant-garde
• and 20th-century and new music such as Cage, Rzewski and Crumb.
Studied classical piano with William Corbett-Jones (SFSU) and Goodwin Sammel (Mills College) and Julian White.
Also studied Theory, Conducting, History.
Outside of university, and since graduating, involved in many different musical groups:
• tango (Musical director of Orquesta Amago; Quinteto Racing Club; Quinteto Bandola Zurdo; MonTango; Parlando/Strictly Tango; Tango #9; my own quartet; various other groups)
• pop/rock covers (Burt Bacharach with Casino Royale, Herb Alpert, Neil Diamond with Super Diamond)
• original rock (Eighty Mile Beach with Beth Custer, Wild Bouquet with Mat Callahan)
• jazz (free, African, solo and large-scale improv)
• experimental and avant-garde (Pamela Z)
• cabaret (Julie Queen)
• musical theatre (Company, Sondheim; Oklahoma, Rogers and Hammerstein; Candide, Bernstein)
• orchestral performance with conductor (Copland, Stravinsky)
• musical direction (George Coates) and conducting (Thomas Day).
Many years dance accompaniment experience, classical and modern, with music or improv (Shawl-Anderson studio, Mills College, Julia Morgan theatre, UC Berkeley, DanSpace, all in CA, US; Park School, Amsterdam, NL).
Computerised music production and recording; music and video digitizing/encoding, composition, editing; web video, MIDI and MP3/MP4 encoding; DVD encoding and ripping; and MIDI software applications. Familiar with such software as ProTools, Quicktime Pro, Finale, Sibelius, Audacity, Spark, and iTunes.
