On this site you will find much about music, particularly tango. There is information about Mark Wijman's music, performances and musical work in Amsterdam. There are samples of my playing, tango and other music.
The Tango Fake Book, a book of tango sheet music, the one, the only, is available here. It is a collection of tango tunes, lead sheets of tango for easy reading in a live music situation. It is published by Mark Wijman/Delf Music.
Over one hundred pieces: tangos, milongas, vals, tango nuevo, and tango canción. Each has lead melody line, often popular counter-melodies and variations, and chord symbols above the staff. Composer and date of composition (if available) too.
These are meant for a la parrilla playing (improvised arrangements); they are intentionally simple and basic. They are intended to be quickly readable in a live situation.
But they are also good for study, for a basis for an original arrangement. So, i have tried to make them as accurate as possible.
These are A4 size. They are in alphabetical order (excluding articles 'El' and 'La' of course). Here is a current list of tunes:

Here is some information about some of the groups i play with:
Bandola zurdo is a tango quintet which plays Piazzolla, Quinteto Réal, and original tunes. This international quintet consists of young argentine, uruguayan, german and american musicans, and its members have performed in those countries and all over Europe, South America and the US. Hotel Victoria we recorded at the Rotterdam Conservatory - violinist Nicolas Giordano is studying there. Adios Nonino was recorded at CasaMirjam studio in Amsterdam. Also in the group: Dario Polonara, bandoneón; Juan Otero, guitar; and Boris Franz, bass. Site: harmonk.com/bandolazurdo.
Racing Club is a tango quintet based in Amsterdam, an argentine/dutch group in which a new generation of musicians puts its mark on the tango tradition (to quote the web site). We do our own arrangements, and Quinteto Réal, Guardia vieja, Troilo, Garello and Pugliese. This group also features a singer, Maria José Ortíz. The quintet is completed by Martijn van der Linden, violin; Santiago Cimadevilla, bandoneón; Marcos di Paolo, guitar; and Daniel Lehmann, bass. See the site: www.racingclubtango.com.
Orquesta Amago is one of the few orquesta típicas of Europe. This group has two bandoneons, three violins, cello, bass and piano. We play for dance; that is the purpose. These samples are from two sources: the first, A la gran muñeca, was recorded for our demo, and the last two, Romance de barrio and Oblivión, were recorded live in concert. For more info, see our site: harmonk.com/amago
Hernán Ruíz is a fantastic argentine guitar player living in Amsterdam. He plays tango and folkloric beautifully. His Trio has guitar, Juan Otero on guitarrón, and Dario Polonara on bandoneón. These recordings are from a live gig at the Vondelpark, Amsterdam, and i am guest pianist. It is more or less a la parrilla.
Ok. Consider turning on frames, and seeing my beautiful, simple site as it is intended.
